A Bristol man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges after a drug deal gone bad in a Menards parking lot.

Eighteen-year-old Jarrod Spigutz is accused of killing 20-year-old Jarrod Foltz.

Spigutz faces charges of murder, carrying a handgun without a license, and possession of marijuana.

Elkhart officers found Foltz's body in a Jeep parked at the Menards on E. Windsor Avenue. He had a gunshot wound to his head, and police say he was deceased when they arrived.

Witnesses were able to describe the suspect vehicle, and when police stopped the car, they found Spigutz. A gun and marijuana were found in the trunk of the car.

Spigutz told police he bought marijuana from Foltz, and when Foltz asked for it back, Spigutz shot him. That's according to court documents.

In court Thursday, Spigutz asked for a court appointed attorney.

His pretrial begins June 29.
