Children at Liberty Elementary School collected together to show their appreciation to the Mishawaka Police Department for police day, by making them letters and signs thanking them for their service.
About 20 Varsity hockey players brought lawn and gardening tools from home to help out U.S. Army Veteran William “Bill” Gesse, who served in the 34th Engineers Battalion B Company in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.
Supporters and taco lovers were able to participate in raffles while trying some of South Bend’s best tacos at four different United Federal Credit Union branches.
The program honors public elementary, middle, and high schools performing or improving student achievement to high levels, especially among disadvantaged students.
The IREAD-3 test is required for all third graders, but these perfect scores all came from second graders who tested a whole year ahead of the required testing window!
The district’s graduating seniors visited their former elementary and middle schools, as students lined the hallways to cheer them on ahead of their graduation ceremonies in June.
Students with intellectual disabilities and their general education peers participated in track meets, hurdles, running, softball throws, long jumps, and an obstacle course!
The top four acts were aerialist duo The Sisters Maggie and Audrey Zielinski, modern a cappella group Luminos, psychological illusionist Jon Wayes, and singer-songwriter Isabelle Pouya.
Bowers is busy at Penn High School. He coaches girls and boys tennis, serves as the social studies academic coach, leads the Muslim student association, and teaches multiple AP History classes.
Randy Ebright of Mishawaka High School and Ryan Mitchell of Hums Elementary School were surprised with the awards on Friday morning by students and staff.
Among them are Twin Branch Elementary School’s “Sunny Delights”, Penn High School’s team “The Black Knights”, and LaPorte High School’s “Slicer Tech” just to name a few.
While many people use the week to get out and volunteer in the community, Saint Joseph Health System is thanking its volunteers who help out all year long.
