SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - NBC News correspondent Anne Thompson will deliver the commencement address at Saint Mary’s College on Saturday.

Thompson got her start at WNDU more than 40 years ago. She stopped by the station Friday to meet the team, tour the building and share memories of working at Channel 16.

Thompson then headed to Saint Mary’s and sat down with WNDU’s Tricia Sloma to talk about the honor of delivering this year’s commencement address.

“I’m very excited about it and one of the best things, Tricia, has been to learn so much about Saint Mary’s because even though I went to Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s is across the street, it’s its own unique, it’s own unique campus. And to be asked to be part of it is really just something I could’ve never imagined,” Thompson said.

Thompson’s job gives her a front seat to history, including the election of Pope Leo.

You can tune in to more of Sloma’s interview with Thompson on 16 News Now Saturday Morning at 8 a.m.
