Rise Up, Sing Out concert planned in Benton Harbor
Event at The Livery will livestream a 90-minute concert highlighting First Amendment freedoms
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WNDU) - A concert focused on First Amendment freedoms is planned for Sunday, June 14, in Benton Harbor.
Dana Beck with the SWMI Indivisible Steering Committee joined us on 16 News Now at Noon to talk about the event, called “Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment.”
Organizers say the concert is meant to highlight freedoms protected by the First Amendment, including speech, religion, press, assembly and protest.
The event is hosted by the Committee for the First Amendment and will be livestreamed nationally. The livestream lineup is expected to include Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, Joy Reid, Wilson Cruz and Broadway Inspirational Voices, among others.
