Thousands without power after strong storms move through Michiana
Indiana Michigan Power and NIPSCO reporting widespread outages after Wednesday storms
(WNDU) - Thousands of power outages are being reported across Michiana after strong storms made their way through the area Wednesday evening.
Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is reporting nearly 8,000 outages across its entire coverage area. The largest outage being reported in the Michiana area is in Berrien County, where more than 4,200 customers are without power.
NIPSCO is reporting more than 14,600 outages across its entire coverage area, with the largest Michiana-area outages being reported in Goshen (more than 1,800), Syracuse (over 1,100) and Warsaw (over 900).
