SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A longtime Michiana resource for families of adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities is launching a three-year early intervention initiative to expand inclusive childcare for children with complex needs across St. Joseph County.

LOGAN says the program places expert therapists directly inside childcare settings to bring essential services to children who need them most.

The organization says phase one will start with assessments at 11 childcare programs in St. Joseph County. After reviewing the results, it will provide integrated therapy services.

LOGAN also says it will offer community-based caregiver-child groups and developmental screenings to reach children in home-based care or other informal settings.

Kristin Weir, chief program officer at LOGAN, joined us on WNDU 16 News Now at Noon to tell us more about the Early Years Initiative. You can learn more by watching the video above!
