New Habitat for Humanity homeowner receives keys to Mishawaka home
MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - Isela Guzman received the keys to her new Habitat for Humanity home during a ceremony Friday afternoon.
Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County’s Muffet McGraw Women Build celebrated the closing in The Fields at Highland. Guzman moved into her new home in time for the Christmas season.
The Women Build committee and former Notre Dame women’s basketball coach McGraw worked alongside Guzman to build her home.
“Having Habitat in our community is a great thing for all of us. A rising tide lifts all boats. The more we can help each other, the more our community is going to succeed,” McGraw said. “I love being associated with them because they stand for the same things I do, and that I empower women, helping women succeed and I am all about anything I can do to help women get better.”
For more than 15 years, the Women Build program has brought volunteers together to construct safe, affordable homes while forming meaningful relationships with future homeowners.
