(CNN) - President Trump’s immigration crackdown is impacting the sales of two popular beer brands.

Constellation Brands, the U.S. owner of Modelo Especial and Corona, pulls heavily from the Latino market living stateside.

But research shows that the market has been hit hard by Trump’s deportation push.

Modelo has lost its top-selling beer spot to Michelob Ultra, and Constellation’s sales have plunged. Its stock is down nearly 40% just this year.

Research points to the changing consumer habits of Constellation’s Latino customers.

Many are fearful of being out in public due to immigration enforcement, and inflation has meant cutting back on spending across the board.

Constellation has been hit especially hard because Latinos make up roughly half of its beer customers.

California, home to the largest Latino population in the U.S. and a key target of immigration enforcement, is also Constellation’s biggest market.
