SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A hidden gem in the South Bend TV market is celebrating his retirement after being part of the business for more than half a century.

According to our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune, Greg Giczi recently retired as president and general manger from PBS Michiana-WNIT after a nearly 60-year career in television.

Giczi started his 60-year career right here at WNDU as a part time receptionist back in 1965. He held various roles during his time here, including as a promotions manager and vice president of operations.

Giczi left WNDU to work at a public TV station in Arizona before returning to South Bend in 2013 to work at WNIT.

Now that he’s retired, Giczi tells The Tribune he will try to learn to sleep past 6 a.m. during the week.
