South Bend Police Department’s citizens academy program reaches capacity

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Class will be in session this spring, as the South Bend Police Department’s Spring Citizens Police Academy is full up!
Police say that all spring session seats have been claimed ahead of the Feb. 9 deadline. The free program consists of a weekly three-hour class over the course of 10 weeks from Tuesday, March 5, through Tuesday, May 7.
The academy allows participants to have hands-on, interactive lessons with various specialty units in the South Bend Police Department, including SWAT, bomb squad, and hostage negotiation.
Details on the department’s fall program will be released this summer.
