Community members in Elkhart are cleaning up Friday after severe winds caused damage throughout the city and resulted in widespread power outages. The storm brought everything from uprooted trees to vehicle damage and property structural damage, along with heavy downpours and lightning. Several roads were filled with debris, including tree limbs and other hazards.

A judge denied a bond reduction request for the man accused of shooting and seriously injuring a LaPorte County deputy. Sharod Grafton Jr. appeared in court for a bond hearing Friday. According to online court records, he had asked the judge to reduce his bond, but the request was denied.
