‘Tech issue’ leads Hoosiers to believe they are lottery winners

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A $5 lottery scratch-off game has been halted in Indiana after lottery officials say there was “technical issue.”

They say it was with the “Space Invaders Cash Invasion” tickets.

We are hearing from viewers that say that technical issue is tickets that appear to be winners, but lottery officials say they aren’t.

One viewer told us his daughter thought she won $100,000 with a Space Invaders Cash Invasion ticket.

He says she tried to turn it in where she bought it, but was told it was a “dud.”

He says the employee told his daughter they were instructed to throw it and other tickets like it away.

However, the Hoosier Lottery website is instructing people to keep those tickets and mail them in along with a filled out “protest form.”

The deadline to do that is November 30.

We also found a Facebook group dedicated to the issue. It has more than 120 members who have shared similar accounts.

Some people in the group say smaller amounts are being paid out to people, but larger amounts are being investigated.
