Firefighters accused of trying to solicit sex from minors during human trafficking sting

CLEVELAND (WOIO/Gray News) - A current and retired firefighter were among 122 people accused of trying to solicit sex from minors in an Ohio human trafficking sting, according to the state’s attorney general.

During “Operation Spring Cleaning,” 38 people were arrested on felony charges that included promoting prostitution, compelling prostitution, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, trafficking in persons, and drug possession and/or trafficking.

Cleveland firefighter Jason Petrov and retired Cleveland firefighter Patrick Moner were both charged with engaging in prostitution.

During the same operation, 15 search warrants were completed at massage parlors where officials suspected human trafficking. Investigators said more than $120,000 was seized along with evidence for long-term investigations.

Forty-two human trafficking survivors were referred by law enforcement to healthcare and social services organizations.
