Corvette driver dies in crash after vehicle splits into pieces following impact, first responders say

CLEVELAND (WOIO/Gray News) - Authorities in Ohio are investigating a deadly crash that took the life of a driver who police say was speeding.

According to Cleveland police, the collision occurred on Interstate 90 early Tuesday morning when a Corvette went off the road, hitting a tree and a guardrail.

The impact of the crash tore the vehicle apart, ejecting the driver.

Cleveland emergency medical services said the driver, later identified as 43-year-old Brian Petruccelli, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cleveland police said speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.

No other injuries were reported.
