(WNDU) - Not all teenagers are obsessed with their cell phones. I recently met 17-year-old Ezra, who loves the great outdoors. He’d love to find a family willing to adopt him before he turns 18.

Ezra is a hands-on, hard-working kid who clearly has an eye for design.

“I like playing basketball. My main thing is just being outside, whatever, to keep me busy,” Ezra explained. “I like fishing. I’m into arts. I like to do drawing. Building Legos is one thing, too. And just keep myself busy.”

Someday, Ezra would like to work on cars. Not just any cars…

“I want to be a race car technician,” Ezra said. “I just like cars. They just keep me busy. Something about engines, they keep me...like, it’s fun.”

Ezra would like to get his driver’s license soon. He’s done most of the work.

“But honestly, gas is expensive, so I might just stay with the bike, really,” Ezra said.

What he really needs is a new family. Teenagers like Ezra often get overlooked in the adoption process, simply because of their age.

“Most people prefer to look for little kids, but teenagers are fun. I mean, we like doing fun things, keeping busy, like to engage in a lot of stuff,” Ezra said.

What is Ezra looking for in a family?

“Honestly, fun. I like doing things like going out, kind of keeping engaging in, like, social activities and community…Just keep myself social,” Ezra said. “I like structure. That’s another thing. I do well with structure, too.”

Ezra has been in foster care for a long time and has this advice for children still waiting.

“Something’s going to happen. No matter how long you wait, something’s going to happen. It always does,” Ezra said.

Ezra hopes that someone reading this web article or watching his video will want to give him a chance and soon! He turns 18 in May.
