Husband dies with 1-year-old daughter in crash on honeymoon; wife suffers serious injuries
MCLEAN CO., Ky. (WFIE/Gray News) - Three people, including a toddler, died in a crash in Breckinridge County over the weekend.
Kentucky State Police said the collision happened just after 5 p.m. Saturday on Kentucky Route 261.
Authorities said Hunter Lyons was driving with a woman and a 1-year-old child that evening when another vehicle crossed the center line and slammed into them head-on.
Kentucky police said 48-year-old Joseph Maynard was driving the other vehicle. Investigators said it is still unknown why his vehicle went into the wrong travel lane.
Friends said Hunter Lyons was with his wife, Macey Lyons, that night, as they were on their honeymoon. They say the toddler in the car was their daughter, Oakleigh.
Authorities said Hunter Lyons and the 1-year-old passenger died at the scene of the crash. Maynard also did not survive the collision.
Macey Lyons was badly hurt and flown to a hospital in Louisville.
Loved ones will be holding a benefit for the family on Saturday at the Calhoun Baptist Church on Main Street. Organizers said all proceeds will go to medical and funeral costs.
KSP said troopers are continuing their investigation into the crash.
