Missing teen found hiding in motel ceiling while sharing room with child molestation suspect, deputies say
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) – A missing teenage girl in Indiana is now safe and a man with child molestation warrants is now in jail after deputies said they found them together in a motel.
Deputies in Spencer County said their investigation of the missing girl led them to the One Life Hotel on Highway 41 early Thursday morning.
Deputies said the missing teen answered the door, but immediately slammed it shut.
Eventually, 26-year-old Christopher Gamble came to the door. He was immediately placed into handcuffs because of the child molestation warrants.
Gamble reportedly told deputies there was no one else in the motel room with him, but a deputy who was on the phone with the missing teen’s mother discovered she was hiding in the ceiling of the motel room.
After a quick search, deputies did find the teen hiding in the ceiling.
Gamble is being held in jail in Vanderburgh County.
In addition to the warrants, Gamble’s charges include contributing to the delinquency of a minor, false informing, and a sex offender registration violation.
