Man electrocuted by service box at YMCA after breaking into it to steal, police say

ST. LOUIS (KMOV/Gray News) – A man died in St. Louis when he reached into an electric service box at a YMCA and was electrocuted, police said.

According to St. Louis police, the death happened just before 3 a.m. Monday on the property of the YMCA in the 900 block of Holly Hills.

Police said they believe the man entered an electrical service box on the YMCA property and reached into the cabinet to steal electrical components.

He was electrocuted and pronounced dead at the scene.

Several agencies are assisting in the investigation.
