Browns QB Shedeur Sanders cited for driving over 100 mph, day after failing to appear in court

MEDINA, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) - Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has reportedly found himself in some traffic ticket trouble for speeding while behind the wheel.

According to Strongsville police, Sanders was cited early Tuesday morning for driving over 100 mph on Interstate 71.

However, Sanders was also issued a previous citation for speeding that was filed in Medina Municipal Court on June 6 and failed to appear for that hearing on Monday, court records showed.

Strongsville police said he was issued his latest ticket on Tuesday after an officer spotted a Black Dodge truck on I-71 at around 12:30 a.m. traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officers first asked Sanders for his driver’s license and registration before checking on a second car that also pulled over, driven by a woman believed to be in a relationship with the 23-year-old.

In the bodycam video, an officer is seen being handed something from Sanders, to which the officer replied, “You should have given this to me earlier, I already wrote the ticket.”

The officer then told Sanders he would be letting the woman go without a ticket.

It is unknown exactly what the item was that Sanders handed to the officer. Cleveland Browns Berea Security Manager John Boykin was referenced during the exchange.

Strongsville police ended up citing Sanders for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to the report.

Sanders was issued a summons to appear at 9:30 a.m. on July 3 in Strongville Mayors Court for that traffic offense.

A Browns spokesperson said the team has addressed the situation with Sanders directly and that the tickets will be handled by him appropriately.
