Parents arrested after daughter was allegedly found naked on neighbor’s porch, deputies say

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) - Two parents in Indiana were arrested after deputies say their young child was allegedly found outside, naked and filthy.

Authorities were called to Ohara Drive, around 6:30 a.m., on March 29.

They say a young child was found naked on a neighbor’s porch. When the neighbors picked up the child, they say she smelled badly and there was no supervision in sight.

Deputies say the door to the home the child came from was standing open. They say they knocked and announced themselves several times.

Eventually, they say Patrick Colbert came to the door.

Deputies say there was a strong odor of urine coming from the home. Colbert allegedly told them he believed his little girl was asleep in her room.

They also learned an open DCS case from the same thing happening in November 2024.

Deputies say the house was in disarray, and on the way to the child’s room, they saw a dirty diaper with dried feces.

They say the child’s bed had toys all over it, with no room for her to sleep.

There was also another child in the home, who deputies say also had the same overwhelming smell as the younger child.

The children were removed from the home, and deputies say one of them was treated for bed bug bites at the hospital.

Deputies say there were also dangerous items in reach of the children and visible cockroach activity in the home.

Patrick, and the children’s mother, Jessica Colbert were booked on child neglect charges.
