Crews were out Thursday morning installing barriers, fencing and signage in downtown Elkhart ahead of the Elkhart Grand Prix, which takes over the city’s streets this weekend with kart racing, live music and fireworks. Several roads are already closed in the downtown area as preparations continue.

One person has been hospitalized and another person has been detained following a stabbing Thursday afternoon near the Transpo station on South Street in downtown South Bend. The call came in just before 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
