Warsaw head football coach Phil Jensen has decided to retire after 18 total seasons with the Tigers.

Jensen was the teams head coach from 1996-2003, and again from 2008-2017.

He notified the team and local sports media on Monday, according to a press release from the high school.

In his 18 years of coaching, Jensen compiled a record of 104-85, leaving with the most wins all-time in the program.

Overall, Jensen has compiled a record of 133-97 in his 22 years of coaching (coached at Churubusco from 1992-1995).

“Tiger Athletics has been very fortunate to have a leader like Coach Jensen guiding our football program for these many years. His passion for kids is sincere, and he has been instrumental in many positive initiatives and programs,” stated WCHS Athletic Director Dave Anson in a school press release.

“Coach Jensen has embodied our football program's Son, Student, Athlete mantra fully and served as a positive model for many. We respect the difficulty of his decision to step down from this leadership role and head coaching position, and we wish coach Jensen nothing but the best.”
