Poly-Wood holds ribbon-cutting for new Syracuse facility

The warm weather probably has you thinking about sitting outside and using your outdoor furniture.
For those of you on the hunt for patio furniture, a local company is expanding by making patio furniture out of recycled material.
Poly-wood held a ribbon-cutting Monday at their Syracuse location. It includes 175,000 square feet of manufacturing and distribution space.
Eighty percent of what they build is to order, and a couple of their specialties are tables and chairs.
Fun fact: It takes about 600 milk jugs to make one of their Adirondack chairs.
Doug Rassi, who started the company in his garage, was born and raised in Syracuse and is proud that they're growing in their 26th year in business.
"Part of the methodology is just the principle and how we relate to people," Rassi explained. "We are very interested in personal growth with people, both in their career and personally in what they're involved in in their lives. We're active in that. We think that's important, and just treating people with dignity in how we structure what we do."
In the fall, they'll be recycling milk jugs on site.
Poly-Wood employs 250 employees and is looking to hire 75 more this year. By the end of 2018, they hope to add 175 more employees.
