South Bend Cubs return home for 6-game series against Fort Wayne TinCaps

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Cubs may not have had the start to their season that they hoped for, but there’s still time to reverse course.

This week would be perfect to do it, as they return home for a six-game series against the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

A homestand couldn’t have come soon enough for South Bend. The team has been struggling recently, especially on the road.

So far this season, the Cubs are just 1-14 away from South Bend. The team lost their first 12 road games before they won at Cedar Rapids last Friday night.

But at home, it’s been a different story. They’re an even .500 with a 6-6 record.

The team is hoping to build off that with six straight games at Four Winds Field.

“It’s good to be back and we are looking forward to competing against these guys this week,” said South Bend Cubs Manager Nick Lovullo. “Being able to respond to adversity and we really haven’t done a great job of that so far, so we are going to keep pushing that message. Keep challenging the guys to respond when things go bad. It’s a long season, very long season, games are up and down. We’ve got to be able to come back when we aren’t playing well.”
