South Bend Cubs announce 2025 Opening Day roster
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Cubs are set to open their 2025 season on Friday night on the road in Beloit.
But before the Cubs can throw out their first pitch, they need to know who’s throwing it. And with that, they announced their 2025 Opening Day roster.
The roster is filled with some new names but also some familiar ones for South Bend fans. Leading the way is pitcher Jaxon Wiggins, who is currently scheduled to be Friday night’s starter. He’s the No. 10 prospect right now in the Cubs organization
Speaking of ranked prospects, the team also has Christian Hernandez, who’s No. 11 in the Cubs system.
Also among the returners is infielder Brian Kalmer, who’s excited to get this season started.
“A lot of it, you know, is just the same game no matter where you play. But they’re going to have an absolute blast,” Kalmer says. “I think we have a really good staff and a really good team and just a really good group of guys. Most importantly, just have fun. We’ve got a phenomenal environment, and they did a great job here to just make it easy to focus on playing.”
