SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Ready or not, the South Bend Cubs are coming back to town.

The Cubs’ home opener is set for Tuesday, April 8, and the team will be coming home to a stadium that is in the midst of a messy $48 million renovation.

For the players, it should be back to baseball business as usual, as construction crews yield the field.

The Cubs’ management is out to make sure the construction does not compromise the fan experience. One potential problem being addressed is an expected pinch on parking in the area.

“We actually added two new parking lots this year that we’re able to utilize,” said South Bend cubs Team President Joe Hart. “Right outside of the centerfield gate right there on the corner of Western and Lafayette, the Hibberd Building, there’s a parking lot there that we’re going to be able to have access to, we haven’t in the past.”

Not only will the stadium continue to host baseball, it will also host a country music concert in August. Details on the concert will be announced on Monday.
