Notre Dame guard Braeden Shrewsberry out for rest of season
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame men’s basketball team says Braeden Shrewsberry will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
The sophomore guard suffered a lower abdomen strain during Notre Dame’s matchup against SMU last Wednesday and missed the team’s last game against Pitt on Saturday.
The team says Shrewsberry’s injury will not require surgery.
“I’m crushed that I can’t be out on the court right now during this final push of the regular season, but I plan on supporting my teammates in any way possible from the sideline,” Shrewsberry said in a news release. “I also want to take this time to thank the Notre Dame community for all the love and support this season. Go Irish.”
Shrewsberry was heating up before the injury, scoring 49 points over the last three games on 41% shooting, including going 11-24 from 3-point range.
He was averaging a career-best 14 points per game on 41.3% shooting. He was also averaging 2.8 made threes per game (third in ACC) on 36.9% shooting from deep (third in ACC).
