Travel host Rick Steves diagnosed with prostate cancer

(CNN) - Travel host Rick Steves will take a break from his vacations this fall when he undergoes treatment for prostate cancer.

Steves announced his diagnosis on social media Wednesday.

Steves will travel to France for three weeks to film episodes of his show “Rick Steves’ Europe” before having surgery in late September.

The guidebook author said he trusts his doctor and is keeping a positive attitude.

Steves is an expert on travel especially in Europe, offering tips for travelers on where to go, what to see and even how to pack.
