President Trump extends ceasefire with Iran

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The on-again, off-again peace talks with Iran are for now - off again, pending a possible proposal from Tehran, as President Donald Trump promised on social media.

Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social, effectively extending the ceasefire deadline, awaiting a proposal from Iran. He wrote, that the blockade will continue and he’s extending the ceasefire, quote “until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or another

As a cease-fire deadline looms, the status of a second round of peace talks remains unclear. That uncertainty led to another down day on Wall Street.

Talks between the U.S. and Iran were up in the air Tuesday. Iran first told Pakistani mediators it would send a negotiating team to Islamabad. But later on Tuesday an Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman said Iran hadn’t decided on sending a delegation.

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance, who led the first round of peace talks, delayed his travel to Pakistan as he attended policy meetings at the White House.

Also, President Trump said last week that the naval blockade of Iranian ports would remain in effect - until negotiations with Iran were complete. In the meantime, the Strait of Hormuz remains essentially shut down.
