Woman found dead in snow after driver thought he hit a deer, officials say

ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) - A woman was found dead in the snow after being hit by a driver who said he thought he hit a deer.

According to a press release from the Elyria Police Department, officers responded to a home after a report of a woman lying unresponsive in the snow Saturday night.

The woman, identified as 34-year-old Tiffany Kunc, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said her injuries were consistent with having been hit by a car.

Surveillance video from a nearby home confirmed the woman was hit by a maroon Ford Escape, according to the release.

The car was later found at a home.

Police interviewed a man who admitted to driving in the area and said he thought he had hit a deer.

Police said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash.

Authorities are still investigating, and no one has been charged.
