Chiropractor accused of sexually abusing patient during appointment has license suspended

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) - The license of a Newburgh chiropractor is under an emergency suspension.

Documents from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency show the state board believes Aaron King to be a “clear and immediate danger to the public’s health and safety.”

King is accused of sexually abusing a patient while giving her a massage at his home, and then continuing to try to contact her.

Documents showed the patient had to get a protective order against him after the alleged incident.

King owns Axis Chiropractic but previously worked at Core Chiropractic in Evansville.

Documents claim King messaged a 15-year-old during his time at Core Chiropractic.

King’s attorney, Brandon Danks, says he believes this claim is unfounded.

“What they’re inferring is that somehow Dr. King is some kind of child predator, and to be honest with you, it’s probably one of the most offensive and reckless accusations I’ve seen in my career. There is zero evidence of it,” Danks said.

Also within the documents are claims that another patient, who was 17 at the time, was sent an unsolicited photo by King.

Danks said the chiropractor claims he does not know the second patient.

“He has no recollection of having ever met that person. This allegedly took place years ago,” the attorney said. “Has Dr. King sent nude images of himself? He has. He has, and it’s been totally consensual.”

Officials said King will not be allowed to work as a chiropractor in Indiana for at least the next 90 days under the suspension, while the state chiropractic board will weigh what happens next.

Danks said King appeared before the state board of chiropractors earlier this month to defend his license.

While King admits to breaking state civil laws by having sexual relationships with two of his patients, Danks said King denies the allegations of assault.

Evansville police said they have sent their investigation to the prosecutor, but no charges have been filed.

According to Danks, detectives have already carried out search warrants on his client’s electronic devices, going through his photos, messages and search histories.

Newburgh police say there is no active investigation involving King.

The patient who made the complaint about sexual assault to the Indiana Attorney General’s Office said she’s afraid of King and did not want to speak publicly.

Danks said he and his client are weighing filing a defamation lawsuit against the patient after he says her posts on Facebook led to the chiropractor’s car being vandalized.
