ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) - Robert “Kool” Bell, co-founder of Kool & The Gang, is returning to Elkhart this summer to support the Kool Kids Foundation, which raises money to help students purchase band instruments.

Bell previously joined the community last summer during the Lerner Theatre’s 100th anniversary celebration. This time, organizers say the focus is on passing the love of music to the next generation through a fundraising night during Elkhart Jazz Fest.

The event will be held Thursday, June 19, at The Lenox, 101 N. Main Street, in downtown Elkhart. Doors open at 5 p.m., with programming running until 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include food and drinks. The night will also feature DJ Derald Gray and live music from country singer Redd Faye.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Conn-Selmer, whose roots in Elkhart span more than a century, according to organizers.

Latonya King, councilwoman for Elkhart’s 6th District, joined us on 16 News Now at Noon to tell us more about the fundraiser. You can learn more by watching the video player above!
