White House threatens further Iran attacks as peace talks stall

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The White House is threatening further attacks on Iran if no deal is reached to end the conflict.

Efforts to end the war in Iran hit a roadblock Wednesday as Iran reportedly rejected a U.S. proposal to end the conflict.

The U.S.-led conflict against Iran, now in its fourth week, shows no sign of quickly ending. Iranian state media reported that the leadership of Iran flatly rejected the Trump administration’s 15-point peace proposal.

While Iran said peace efforts are now dead, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted that talks between both sides have not ended.

“They have not. Talks continue. They are productive, as the president said on Monday. And they continue to be,” she said.

After two previous efforts at diplomacy failed before the start of the war Feb. 28, Iran is said to be highly suspicious of this latest round of negotiations.

“President Trump is willing to listen as President Trump announced on Monday, the United States has been engaged over the last three days and productive conversations, which led the president to temporarily instruct the Department of War to postpone planned strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure,” Leavitt said.

Despite the lack of progress in peace talks so far, Leavitt said the President’s objectives have mostly been met. She hinted that the conflict with Iran would likely be over when the President meets with Chinese President Xi Jinping in May 14 and 15.
