Indiana workers owed $1.2 million in back wages
INDIANAPOLIS (WNDU) - The U.S. Department of Labor says more than 1,600 workers in the state of Indiana are owed more than $1.2 million in back wages that have been recovered.
According to our sister station WTHR, a large portion of that money has remained unclaimed because some of the workers haven’t been able to be located.
Employees changing jobs or addresses, name changes, and employers failing to retain contact information are among some of the reasons why employees may not be located.
The U.S. Department of Labor has created an online search tool where workers can find out if the department is holding back wages on their behalf. The tool, “Workers Owed Wages,” can be accessed by clicking here.
