Volkswagen offers cash to customers after cheating scandal

Volkswagen says it's "working to make things right" on the heels of its global emissions test cheating scandal.

In an effort to win back the trust of its affected US customers, the car company is offering up cash.

The automaker is offering a $500 Visa gift card, plus another $500 in credit to be used for service or products at a VW dealer. The goodwill package also gives customers access to 24-hour road assistance for three years.

To be eligible, folks must be the registered owner or lessee of a VW Disel with a two-liter TDI engine as of November 8th.
