Two people injured in separate ATV accidents

A pair of ATV accidents in Kosciusko County sent two people to the hospital over the holiday weekend.

The first one happened around 3:45 Saturday in the 1200 block of West Lake Street in Warsaw.

59-year-old Dwight Dean of Syracuse was driving his four-wheeler around the property, when his ATV struck a small hill, causing it to flip over and throw him off.

Dean, wasn't wearing any protective gear, hit his head, and doesn't remember how the accident happened.

He was taken to the hospital to be treated for neck pain, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The next morning, 23-year-old Caitlan Paloian of Rosemont, Illinois, was hurt when her ATV rolled over onto her.

It happened around 10:15 on County Road 850 East near the Tri County Fish and Wildlife Area.

Paloian tried to turn around at an intersection, but turned too wide, causing her four-wheeler to roll down a steep embankment.

She broke her wrist, and had to go to the hospital. But investigators say her injuries could have been much worse if she hadn't been wearing a helmet.
