Two arrests made in South Bend shooting that injured four girls

Two people have been arrested Friday in connection with the shooting and crash that sent four young girls to the hospital.

The girls were between the ages of 12 and 14. All four girls have been treated and released from the hospital.

30-year-old James Carter and 28-year-old Jacquise Carter, were arrested and booked in the county jail pending formal charges.

James on two counts of aggravated battery, a felony, and Jacquise on aiding a criminal and battery, both felonies.

Last Sunday morning, South Bend officers responded to Van Buren and Harrison for reports of shots fired.

They found a vehicle that had crashed nearby, at the intersection of Harrison and California Street.
