South Bend Washington wide receiver John Michael Hankerson has committed to Mississippi State to play football next season. He will make the decision official on National Signing Day on Wednesday.

Hankerson committed this weekend after taking his official visit. Hankerson knows Starkville well. He lived there before moving to South Bend a few years ago.

Hankerson has blazing speed. He's the defending state champion in the 100 meter dash in Indiana.

The news was first reported by 247Sports.

"Mississippi State made me feel the most at home," the 6-foot-1 and 170-pound Hankerson told 24/7 Sports. "I got to be back in Starkville this weekend and committed. Now I get to return home for college so I am killing two birds with one stone. My family got to see me in high school and now they can in college, too. And I am playing for a great program in the SEC."

Hankerson helped South Bend Washington to an 8-3 record in 2015.
