Plymouth woman arrested in attempted drowning of a child

A woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly trying to drown a child.

Amanda Nethercutt, 26, was arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and neglect of a dependent.

Police were called out to a home in the 1000 block of Ed Cook Boulevard. Officers arrived to find a woman, Mary Nethercutt, who said Amanda tried to drown a child.

Mary had several injuries and the juvenile was blue in the face. The officer found Amanda down the street standing outside with a knife in her hand. She didn't respond to police orders and was tased at the scene. The child and Mary were both taken immediately to the hospital for treatment.
