The driver of a semi is dead after his semi crashed through a building on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened along U.S. 30, just east of Pierceton, Indiana, around 12:30 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene they located the semi inside a vacant business.

Mark Phillip Sikorski, 45, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was found deceased in the wreckage.

Multiple fire departments arrived on scene and determined that due to structural concerns, the vehicle should be removed from the building before extricating the victim.

A small canine was located alive inside the mangled semi cab, and was taken into safe keeping by the Kosciusko County Animal Control.

The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team stated that the initial investigation determined that the semi tractor/trailer was westbound on U.S 30, when for an unknown reason, suddenly crossed into the median area, over the eastbound U.S. 30 lanes, and collided with the vacant business.

The crash is still under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday in Fort Wayne.
