Niles robbery accomplice faces up to 15 years in prison

An Indiana woman faces up to 15 years behind bars in connection with last year's fatal robbery at a Long John Silver's restaurant in Niles, according to The Niles Daily Star.

Kavina Ward, a 27-year-old who was living in Elkhart at the time, pleaded no contest Monday in Berrien County to one count of armed robbery. The prosecutor's office says she now lives in South Bend.

Ward worked at the restaurant in May and is suspected of dropping Eddie Macon Jr. off to rob it.

After robbing the restaurant with a gun, Macon was shot and killed by police.

In exchange for the plea, the prosecutor's office dropped the original charges of armed robbery and felony firearm.

Ward faces up to 15 years in prison and will be sentenced on December 28.
