The Notre Dame women's basketball team gave Head Coach Muffett McGraw her 801st career win Sunday at the Joyce Center.
Before tip off, McGraw was honored for her milestone achievement of getting 800 wins.
"It was a really emotional moment for me," said McGraw. "Just to look up and see all of the fans and know they've been here for so many of those wins, and of course Matt (McGraw). I wanted him to be out there enjoying it because he's been there for every one of them. It was a really special moment and one that I will treasure.”
The Irish defeated North Carolina in blowout fashion 88-54 en route to their 8th straight win.
Notre Dame was led by freshman Arike Ogunbowale, who had 16 points in 25 minutes of playing time. Freshman teammate Marina Mabry finished with 14 points including four steals.
Sophomore Brianna Turner has been getting more playing time in recent games after suffering a shoulder injury over Thanksgiving. Turner was a force in the paint on the defensive end, blocking five shots. She would fall just short of a double-double, recording 11 points and nine rebounds.
Notre Dame is now 4-0 in the ACC, and 15-1 overall. The Irish will travel and play Boston College Thursday night.
