Mother of boy killed at daycare files tort claim notice

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The mother of a boy who died while at a Michigan City daycare is filing a tort claim notice with the state of Indiana, the Department of Family and Social Services, and the Indiana Attorney General.

Anita LeFlore claims the state should have closed Tricia's Playhouse and Day Care in April after an inspection turned up six violations.

LeFlore's five-year-old son, Amareon Williams, died of asphyxiation from a jump rope on June 9th while playing at the facility.

The owner of the daycare and two workers have both been charged in the boy's death.

The state has 90 days to respond.

If the state doesn't respond or denies the claims, LeFlore says she will proceed with a lawsuit.
