PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- More businesses and organizations in Marshall County will now have access to St. Joseph Metronet's dark fiber network.

The project began last summer and was completed at the end of last year.

This fiber network will allow business owners to get transfer data more quickly due to an increase in bandwidth

Some businesses and organizations are already on the network and are having great success

Increased bandwidth allows these businesses to expand their economic development.

“This is an opportunity for the size of Plymouth to have the same kind of infrastructure and community asset that is normally seen in metropolitan areas,” St. Joseph Valley Metronet CEO Mary Jan Hedman said. “That gives the businesses an opportunity to compete on a regional, national and international basis because their productivity will improve.”

Metronet previously had their network stop at Ireland Road in South Bend.
