South Bend, Ind.-- One person is arrested and another went to the hospital following an altercation early Friday in South Bend.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Fassnacht Avenue just after midnight.

When they arrived, emergency crews found a 53-year-old man with a cut to his chest.

The cut did not require medical attention, but police say he had to stay at the hospital because he was "so profoundly intoxicated, they were afraid to let him go on his own"

The woman was arrested for aggravated battery since a knife was involved.

There were two children in the home at the time of the incident.

They have been taken into custody for their safety.
