Kroc Center holds "Ready, Set, Film" camp for kids

It's time to roll out the red carpet for a group of campers! This summer, nine kids participated in a special media camp held by the Kroc Center in South Bend.

The "Ready, Set, Film" camp wrapped up on Friday. The week long camp gave kids the chance to write, edit and produce their own movie.
Campers were guided through the process by Kroc studio manager, Sean Scott.

"“It was fun to show them that making a movie isn’t all fun and fame that there is a lot of work that goes into it," Scott said.

One of the campers, 12-year-old Claire Wright, shared some of the behind the scenes activites done this past week.

"We all had to write our movies out on our notebook," Wright said, also adding, “…we would have to ask our friends to help for our parts.”

Besides acting, kids were taught how an audio board operates and were shown how a video camera works. The group even toured a local television station and got to see firsthand how the media system in the Kroc's auditorium works.

While this particular specialty camp has come to a close, there are still a number of other camps offered by the Kroc. Here's a link to their website detailing other options.
