ELKHART A man is facing felony charges for hitting a victim in the head with a liquor bottle during a home invasion and robbery.

21-year-old Willie Jenkins pleaded not guilty to charges of burglary and robbery while armed with a deadly weapon.

He and another man are accused of breaking into a 60-year-old Elkhart man's home in the 900 block of Bontrager Avenue on Dec. 6, 2013.

Jenkins reportedly hit the victim with a vodka bottle and brandished a gun. Witnesses say Jenkins hit the man several times with the handgun, demanding to know where he kept money, jewelry and prescription medications.

The Elkhart Truth reports that police have named a second person of interest in the crime, but he has not been arrested.
