Feeding the Nations breaks ground on South Bend warehouse

South Bend, Ind. A new warehouse in South Bend will make it possible to send food out across the country to those in need.

Feeding the Nations broke ground on the project this afternoon.

A 10,000 square foot warehouse will be going up in the 3400 block of South Locust Road.

While the organization has warehouses in Florida and Texas, this will be the first one here.

They say it's a big step toward being more effective in providing food to neighboring states.

“In an emergency like fire or flood, we cannot right now put things together to bless those people and help,” Feeding the Nations President, Steve Sumrall, said. “With the brand new warehouse were gonna be able to assemble those things, bring things in box it up and send it up the road.”

Construction is set to start next month and the goal is to have the warehouse finished by the end of the year.
