Elkhart talent show raises $30,000 for children's home

The totals are in. After last week’s fundraiser at The Lerner Theatre, a local children’s home will soon have tens of thousands of dollars more to serve our community.

From a jazz band to a harpist to even a tap dance group, eight acts hit the stage last Friday for the third annual “Elkhart County Has Talent” show.

The show was modeled after NBC’s hit show “America’s Got Talent” but instead of having a panel of celebrity judges, the audience voted with donations.

According to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth, the crowd of nearly 300 people helped raise $30,000 for Bashor Children’s Home.

And the donations are still rolling in.

Bashor, which helps hundreds of troubled kids statewide, will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the event.
