Strengthening defenses against Asian carp, dredging harbors and protecting Michigan military bases are among the 2015 priorities for the state's congressional delegation.

Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Republican Rep. Fred Upton announced an "action plan" Wednesday at the Detroit Regional Chamber's Mackinac Policy Conference.

Efforts are focused on a river 40 miles from Chicago to prevent carp from invading the Great Lakes. They also want to keep the A10 aircraft and its future replacement at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in suburban Detroit.
